What is Osteopathy?

Osteopaths are trained medical professionals, who treat using manual therapy, treating various conditions usually affecting the musculoskeletal system.  At Naas Osteopaths we  use a variety of techniques to aid in recovery including soft tissue and mobilizing or moving the joints to help increase range of motion. Osteopaths are also trained to manipualte or move joints and this may occur during treatment.  This is not done in every treatment and is totally dependent on a case by case basis.  The Osteopath explains the benefits of treatments, any risks or alternatives and will always gain your consent before proceeding.

Osteopaths have been regulated by statute since 1993 and are recognised as Allied Health Professionals by the NHS in the UK.  Osteopaths are recognized by the World Health Organisation and other international bodies.  The regulating and representative  body in Ireland is the Osteopathic Council Of Ireland.

Cranial osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathy is a much gentler treatment and is used for patients of all ages. This treatment is particularly suitable for treating babies and children.  The skull of a baby skull is soft and still in development and this may have been compromised in pregnancy or through birth.  Its principles are similar to that of mainstream Osteopathy and it involves the Osteopath placing hands on certain parts of the cranium using palpatory skills and techniques to diagnose for any strain or dysfunction.  Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle, safe and effective approach to a treatment of wide range of problems in the whole body.

I have been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia nerve pain and suffered greatly with inner ear pain. Jason was very welcoming professional who worked with me to alleviate some of my consistent pain. Over the course of treatments he slowly and patiently worked with me. He always explained every manipulation before performing it, and made sure I was comfortable with it. He helped me greatly and I am very grateful
